Animal Cruelty Investigations

Animal cruelty investigations are some of the most challenging to prosecute and investigate. This presentation will focus on the laws regarding animal cruelty, indicators of the existence of animal cruelty, the association of other violent crimes which are frequently associated with animal cruelty, the steps for completing thorough investigations, the role of forensic veterinarians, evidence collection, and other steps necessary for successful prosecutions of animal cruelty crimes. This presentation will also include case studies to identify best practices. The presenter for this class is Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Kimberly Abourezk, Animal Cruelty Coordinator, along with other presenters who are experts in the field of Animal Cruelty investigations and prosecutions.
